DCBs U17 pulled off a brilliant win against Spain in a last ball thriller, winning by 3 wickets.
Spain 146 all out off 39.3 overs
Germany 147 for 7 off 39.6 overs
Another rain affected game, with the start delayed by one and a half hours, Spain recovered from a shaky start at 33 for 4 in the 12th over thanks to a steady innings of 42 from Tom Vine and a late fight back from Ben Girling in the last 5 overs. Best bowling H. Singh 8-1-21-2, L. Gerhards 8-2-29-2.
Germany lost opener Leonhard Gerhards on the third ball of Germany's innings but Konrad Fuchs (28) and Jaskaran Singh (35) settled the ship with a 77 run partnership for the second wicket. Captain Steve Richards came to the crease in the 27th over with Germany struggling at 85 for 5 and played himself in slowly, scoring only 8 off his first 22 balls. He was joined by 'keeper Krishna Cholleti in the 30th over with the score on 93 for 6 and he helped his captain in a 30-run partnership to inch closer to the target. Richards fought hard for his runs, leaving his team needing 12 runs off the final over. Christian Hein ran a desperate 3 off the first ball to give his captain the strike and Richards did not disappoint, adding 8 off the next 4 balls and striking a powerful shot to mid-on for the victory run.
Germany will go on to place Greece in the final day play-offs.
