ICC Europe U17 Champs: DCB U17s pulled off a brilliant win against Spain

DCBs U17 pulled off a brilliant win against Spain in a last ball thriller, winning by 3 wickets.
Spain 146 all out off 39.3 overs
Germany 147 for 7 off 39.6 overs
Another rain affected game, with the start delayed by one and a half hours, Spain recovered from a shaky start at 33 for 4 in the 12th over thanks to a steady innings of 42 from Tom Vine and a late fight back from Ben Girling in the last 5 overs. Best bowling H. Singh 8-1-21-2, L. Gerhards 8-2-29-2. [

ICC European U17 Champs: Austria beat Germany in last over thriller

Germany and Austria produced the closest finish of the tournament so far with the Austrians scraping home by just six runs in a last over finish.
Set 158 for victory, Austria needed eight runs of the last over with two wickets left but Sohaib Farooq bowled Tushar Marwaha with his second ball, conceded just a single and then bowled last man Dimuth Thawalama with his fifth delivery to spark wild Austria celebrations. [

ICC Europe U17 Champs: Hosts Isle of Man make confident start

Isle of Man made a confident start to the Under 17B Championships, the first ever ICC tournament the islanders have hosted, with a 66 runs victory over Germany at Cronkbourne.
In the only game of the day to be reduced by a persistent drizzle - play was held up for almost three hours - the hosts made 180 for seven in 37 overs and then dismissed their opponents for 114, taking the last nine wickets for 45 runs in 12 and a half overs. [

DCB-Kader bereits für die WCL qualifiziert

Mit dem Sieg gegen Norwegen ist der DCB mit seiner Nationalmannschaft einen riesigen Schritt weitergekommen. Noch stehen die Deutschen mit 6 Punkten zwei Punkte hinter dem Turnierfavoriten Guernsey (8 Punkte). Mit einem Sieg über Israel können noch einmal 2 Punkte dazukommen. Der Punktegleichstand mit Guernsey wird jedoch keine Auswirkung auf die Tabellenführung haben: Guernsey hat in jedem Fall die bessere Netto-Runrate und wird damit Europameister.
Die gute Nachricht: Deutschland fliegt im November nach Kuwait, um an der WCL (Div.8) teilzunehmen!

Germany Defeats Norway

A tense finish saw Germany edge Norway in the last over of the 50 over game. Needing two runs from the last over, the first ball was a dot ball, Farook Ahmed hit a single off the second and then Shakeel Hassan smashed a boundary four on the 3rd ball of the over, which secured Germany a win by 4 wickets and gained it another two points that puts it firmly in second place of the ICC WCL Div 2 Europe: Norway 209, Germany 213 for 6. [

Germany beat Norway by four wickets

Norway 209/9 (50 overs, Shahbaz Butt 73, F Qureshi 27, Z Ashiq 25, Ehsan Latif 4-33, S Hassan 2-33) lost to Germany 213/6 (49.3 overs, J Eggleston 87, S Srinivas 34, A Leslie 27, M Fernando 22, Aamir Waheed 2-33) by four wickets.

A captain’s innings from Germany’s James Eggleston led his side to a narrow four wicket win against Norway, as they passed their target score with just three balls remaining.

Egglestone played the perfect anchor role, making 87 from 145 balls, striking 9 boundaries. He shared in two significant partnerships – 82 for the second wicket with Andre Leslie (27), and what proved to be a match winning 74 for the 5th with Satya Srinivas (34). [

The Rheinaue ground at Bonn recently saw the inaugural game of the DCB’s Friendly U15 Youth League, when the Reinaue All -Whites team from Bonn took on St. George’s School, Cologne. At the end of the Tw/20 game, the home team ran out winners by 29 runs: Bonn 97 for 4 off 20 overs, St George’s, Cologne 68 for 8 in its 20 overs. [

DCB-Kader in Coventry

As part of its preparations for the 2010 ICC European WCL Div 2 Championship on Guernsey from 13 – 19 July the German national team, on the kind invitation of the Coventry District Cricket Board, made a stop-over in Coventry and had a very successful training session on 10 July at the Coventry and North Warwickshire Cricket Club and the following day played a 40 over game against the Coventry and District U19 squad at the Standard Cricket Club ground at Tile Hill Village. The opportunity to work out on the square of the C&NWCC, the best ground in Coventry, was a real bonus for the German team and thanks are due to Carl Bowes who organised that session for the DCB and the C&NWCC, committee who gave permission for the DCB to train on their impressive ground. Carl Bowes was also responsible for arranging the match and thanks go, in addition, to the committee of the Standard club for agreeing to the match being played on their ground. [
