Der Deutsche Cricket-Bund freut sich, die Ernennung von Sophie Buckton zur Teammanagerin der Frauennationalmannschaft bekanntzugeben.
Bundestrainer Alistair Waldron leitete das offene Auswahlverfahren – in dem mehr als 20 Bewerbungen eingingen – und zeigte sich von Sophie begeistert: „Wir sind überzeugt, dass Sophie hervorragend zur Mannschaft passt. Sie verfügt über umfangreiche operative Erfahrung aus verschiedenen Funktionen und über große Cricketkompetenz. Während der Gespräche beeindruckte mich besonders ihre strukturierte Arbeitsweise im operativen Management. Zudem war ihre Begeisterung deutlich spürbar – wir freuen uns sehr auf die Zusammenarbeit.“
Sophie Buckton arbeitet für die Warwickshire Cricket Foundation und als qualifizierte Trainerin schwerpunktmäßig im Frauen-/Jugendbereich. Durch ihre Erfahrungen im operativen Management, als Teammanagerin der britischen Handballnationalmannschaft oder ihre derzeitige Tätigkeit als Team Liaison Officer für Pakistan bei der Cricket-Frauen-WM ist sie breit aufgestellt und bringt optimale Voraussetzungen mit.
Zu ihrer neuen Rolle als Teammanagerin der DCB-Frauennationalmannschaft sagt sie:
"Es ist eine spannende Zeit für das Frauencricket in Deutschland. Es wird mir eine große Freude sein, meine operativen Erfahrungen einzubringen und dazu beizutragen, den vom DCB bereits eingeschlagene Weg mit der Mannschaft weiter zu gehen."

National coach Alistair Waldron led the open selection process – which attracted more than 20 applications – and was full of praise for Sophie: “We are convinced that Sophie is an excellent fit for the team. She has extensive operational experience from various roles and a deep understanding of cricket. During the interviews, I was particularly impressed by her structured approach to operational management. Her enthusiasm was also very evident – we are very much looking forward to working with her.”
Sophie Buckton works for the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation and, as a qualified coach, focuses primarily on women’s and youth cricket. Thanks to her experience in operational management, as team manager of the British national handball team, and her current role as Team Liaison Officer for Pakistan at the Women’s Cricket World Cup, she has a broad background and is ideally suited to the role.
Speaking about her new role as team manager of the DCB women’s national team, she says:
"These are exciting times for women’s cricket in Germany. It will be a great pleasure for me to contribute my operational experience and help the team continue along the path already set out by the DCB."
