Am Montag, den 26. Oktober begann unsere Development Officerin für Ost/Nord Sharu Sadarangani das erste ELP Programm, bei dem Kinder und Jugendliche in Schulen spielerisch an Cricket heran geführt werden, an der International School of Bremen. Insgesamt waren es an dem Montag 68 Teilnehmer aus den Klassenstufen eins bis vier. Die meisten der Kinder haben vorher noch nie Cricket gespielt und waren sichtlich angetan, trotz des herbstlichen Wetters an diesem Tag.
Das Programm werden wir im Laufe der nächsten Zeit in Schulen in ganz Deutschland platzieren, um die Kinder und Jugendlichen zu inspirieren. Das Motto des ICC über das von ihnen herausgebrachte Programm lautet: „Jeder kann überall, wann immer und mit allem Cricket spielen.“
Die Schulen können kreativ und flexibel werden und so die Sportart Cricket in vielen Wegen in den Schulalltag integrieren. Gerade in Zeiten wie diesen, ist Cricket als kontaktfreier Sport eine tolle Möglichkeit, sodass wir uns auf viele weitere Schulen freuen.
Neben Bremen haben auch bereits drei Schulen in Frankfurt mit dem Programm begonnen. Jeweils drei erste Klassen beginnen dort, den hier in Deutschland doch eher unbekannten Sport, in den Unterricht miteinzubinden.
Interessiert Kinder haben die Möglichkeit in Vereinen in der Nähe Mitglied zu werden und zu spielen.
Wir hoffen, dass so Kinder und Jugendliche in ganz Deutschland die Liebe zum Cricket finden und dies so unsere Jugend stärkt.
On Monday the 26th of October our youth and women’s development officer Sharu Sadarangani, conducted introduction to cricket lessons at the International School of Bremen. Thereby commencing with the first school in the north of Germany, wherein the ICC Entry Level Programme is being offered as part of the curriculum. We had a total of 68 participants from years 1 to 4. It was also the first time playing cricket for the majority of pupils, who thoroughly enjoyed it on the astro turf, even in the crisp autumn weather.
The programme we are introducing in schools all over Germany is based on a programme developed by the ICC to unite, inspire and empower people and communities through cricket in schools. Their motto is : Anyone can play anywhere, anytime and with anything. It urges us to get creative, with regard to the equipment we use or the area we have to play in. It also ensures flexibilty on how these introductory lessons to cricket can be conducted. For times such as these, a socially distanced sport like cricket has been pleasantly accepted by the school in Bremen as well as others in Germany.
Sharu will assist the sports teachers at the beginning of the course as well as the last lesson and the interested pupils will then continue their cricketing journeys in clubs based near the school.
We hope to spark a love for cricket in schools as well as grow our youth cricketers in clubs!
